Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Chips – The Only Fools and Horses prequel

Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Chips is the name of the forth-coming comedy drama prequel to the legandary BBC comedy series ‘Only Fools and Horses’. This one off episode will be 90 minutes in length and is set to air sometime to 2010.

Written by Only Fools creator John Sullivan the show is set in the ‘gritty sixties’ and will feature Dell Boy as a 16 year old growing up in South London.

The plot revolves around the reappearance of “art connoisseur” and safe cracker Freddie Rodbal, fresh from a 10-year spell in prison.

Nicholas Lyndhurst, who starred as Rodney in Only Fools, has been confirm to play the role of ‘Freddie Rodbal’. Unfortunately none of the other original cast members are expect to appear.

Described as ‘Peckham’s answer to Brigitte Bardot,’ Dels mum Joan Trotter will also be a principle character in the show, and is unhappily married to Dels workshy father Reg, who also features.

The show will focus on the relationships between these main chracters; Del Boy, Joan Trotter, Freddie Rodbal and Reg.

Teenage versions of Boycie, Trigger and Denzil, and familiar settings such as the Nag’s Head, are also expected to appear.

Sex, Drugs & Rock’n'Chips will be set in the real Sixties, before The Beatles and Mary Quant made London the coolest place on the planet.

The drama will feature south London at its least glamorous, where money was scarce, the staple diet was rock salmon and chips, and the flicks offer the only hint of glamour. And it will give us a bit of an insight into why Del and Rodney turned out the way they did.
